This elegant sterling silver serving dish is hallmarked Sheffield 1943 and crafted by Atkin Brothers, a Sheffield silversmithing firm with roots tracing back to Thomas Law's workshop in 1750, later formalised under the Atkin family name from 1853 and counted among Sheffield's leading silver houses of the 19th and early 20th centuries.

The dish features a gently curved, elongated oval body with a shaped, wavy rim, finished all around with a crisp gadroon border, a classic ribbed motif long favoured on fine English silverware for the rich, tactile texture it adds to an otherwise plain surface. It sits raised on a matching rectangular pedestal foot, edged with the same gadroon detailing, giving the piece a lovely sense of visual continuity and lift that echoes serving pieces of the Georgian and Edwardian eras this style draws from.

Measuring 29cm in width, 22cm in depth and 7cm in height, this is a generously sized piece well suited to serving at the table, whether for bread rolls, canapés or as a decorative centrepiece. Its clean, timeless lines and quality maker's provenance make it a versatile addition to a dining collection, equally at home in a traditional or contemporary table setting.
